Should I take the job or not?
Hi everyone, I have a chance to work at a leading law firm as a trainee reporting/management accountant(they use both) for 1 year before I go into my final year at uni.
I'm in the UK and I would like to move to London for an IB/CF/AM job after I graduate.
I have 1 year experience in wealth management, top 1% grades in BA Finance , society presidency, and I will be sitting CFA Level 1 this December. I assume that this role would help me a lot with FRA and would make it easier to pass Level 1. On the other hand, if I go straight to uni I'll have a lot more free time to study. They will probably pay for some accounting exams and I will be able to have both ACCA & CFA by the time I'm 25, which should guarantee an 'ok' job and a 'comfortable' lifestyle.
The salary isn't much but I come from a humble background and I don't know what I'll get if I don't do a placement year. Graduate schemes have already opened and I don't have experience that can get me into IB.
I'm inclined to take it but I wonder what you guys think. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Nvm i’ll take it, reality kicked in. Admin pls delete thread. Thanks
Being a management accountant sounds like a mouse role to me. Thought you wanted to be the BOSS and were better than all the CEOs who answer to investors. Maybe open your own law firm or management accountant firm as a university student?
