Sick during Internship

Hello all,

I’m currently in NYC IB at a non-BB bank. So far the hours haven’t been so bad, think 65-75 hours a week on average (so manageable to the point where I can still get decent sleep). I’ve recently become extremely unlucky and contracted a case of mono. I’ve been extremely sick the past week thinking it was just a cold and kept coming into work, not realizing what I actually had until I was able to see a doctor after finishing work on Friday.

This internship is obviously extremely important to me and I intend to keep coming into work, despite not feeling 100%, but I just want to get an opinion - is this something that should alert my staffer of?

I’ll probably be sick/tired for another 2-3 weeks so I don’t want to come off as somebody who is not putting in their best effort and have it come back to hurt me when it comes time for return offers. Thanks guys.

I'd email your staffer today (instead of going in tomorrow). It's in both your and the bank's best interest for you to get better faster and not make the entire office sick. You probably have a doctor's note or something if it comes to that.

This seems to be the overwhelming response on this thread. Thanks - my worry seems to be over killing my chances for the return offer, but this is a situation that nobody could have really anticipated so hopefully it won’t be held against me
