Simple networking question I couldn't find the answer for
When networking (as a non-target, specifically) should you be reaching out to analysts, associates, or higher up? Does it matter? Can an analyst get you an interview?
Thanks, and sorry if this is simple, I've been searching around for the answer and I just couldn't find one.
Analysts are good enough to be your bread and butter, associates are fine too.
Do they carry much weight with regards to getting an interview?
If so, I have a few friends who are analysts... could that secure me a couple interviews?
Yeah during the process, they usually asks analysts/associates if they spoke with any interesting or potential candidates and that's when they would push for you if they like you
Huh, I didn't know that. Guess I didn't put 2-2 together. Sounds like networking at a few banks will be much easier than others!
Analysts/Associates are often a lot closer to the process than VPs/Directors/MDs. Almost all of the people who ended up pushing my resume/vouching for me to HR were Analysts, and maybe one or two Associates. That's not to say that higher-ups don't have influence, it is just that they are typically more removed from the process.
