Skipping 2022 Internship in another field for health reasons?

So I applied to all 2023 IB SA internships with this “incoming 2022” internship on my resume. It was for an insurance company, basically selling insurance B2B (totally irrelevant to IB imo).

I was in a car accident last year and just found out I will still be undergoing further treatment this summer, making it impossible to do this insurance internship that I had put on my resume.

I received a 2023 SA IBD offer at a BB, do I let them know before signing the offer that I won’t be doing this insurance internship? The bank that offered me the 2023 SA knows about the car accident as I had to explain it because of my school situation as well. Will they understand? Or will it be an issue? Any help ASAP is needed, deadline to accept this offer is coming ip.

I would tell them just in the interest of disclosure, but they won't have any issues with it - just accept it, and basically in passing mention that you cannot do that internship because you need further treatment, but will be fully healed for next summer and are very excited about the offer. If you had already signed the offer I'd say don't bother.

Are you required to keep them updated? If not, skip it. While dropping the SA 2022 gig does not matter, you don't want your manager/ team to wonder about your health since IB hours are not light.
