SocGen 2022 - Culture, Deal Flow, Comp

Any info on their IBD division, specifically their NYC office. SocGen is very strong in Europe and it seems like they are investing in their U.S. franchise so any color would helpful.

Not going to sugar coat. My experience is dated but back in the early 2010s, pretty much everyone I met at SocGen or at least their Houston office was a colossal douche. I know culture is different even from group to group within a bank so I'd just say feel out how the group you're talking to is. Granted cultures change so maybe it's gotten better but at least back then, my impression was not positive.

Very strong may not have been the correct wording here but they did rank 13th in the 2021 EMEA advisory league table according to Mergermarket so they have a decent presence in the region.

Seems like BNP is doing well in the US so just curious if we think SocGen can grow their franchise in the US.
