SocGen, Credit Agricole, and BNP Paribas IBD - New York
I would really appreciate any information on the banking groups of these banks here in New York. It seems at least for SocGen and Credit Agricole their banking teams are very small - am I correct? I am really hoping to gain more insight into the mentioned banks and their NYC teams.
If anyone work in IBD at one of the above banks I would really appreciate a PM.
No one knows anything or works at these banks in New York? O_O
I once interviewed with the M&A team at BNP. It seems like BNP did a bunch of cross boarder natural resources deals and they have been expanding their consumer banking reach. They probably have 20ish people in NYC and there's opportunity to relocate to London or Paris. I would imagine the deal experience at these satellite offices of foreign banks would be similar to MM - smaller team compared to BB and more responsibilities. Exit opportunities might be limited, but at the end of the day, if you are smart and good at what you do, you will find a way out. Take my opinion with a grain of salt.
BNP must have the largest team out of the three. So SocGen and Credit Agricole teams must be even smaller?
Don't go to these places unless they're your last option. No lead lefts basically all co-managers, below-mkt pay, 2nd rate seniors, most 1st years are gone by end of 1st year
can't agree with you anymore!!!
Anymore info on Credit Agricole ?
^ Really? Even for BNP Paribas? In continential Europe these guys basically run the show...
Anyone has any info?
keyword - in continental europe. Not in the U.S.
Has anyone even worked with these guys in a capital raise or M&A transaction in the US?
It seems almost 90 - 100% of their deals are French companies doing business here in North America.
How good is your French? I have friends in SG, went to school in Europe and from what I hear, most of the teams are mid-senior level ex-pats or Americans that studied in France. Huge bias towards French schools. BNP owns Bank of the West so their footprint is not insignificant and they want to push into the US more (but given French speeds, that will take a while. CA has a building right around grand central but no idea of their footprint: they are in NYC, CHI and HOU.
From what I noticed on CB's site they are trying to expand the NYC office; new energy & industrials advisory group, which is what I am interested in. And in regards to my french it sucks but my italian is pretty good lol.
How's the culture at SG/CB?
