Soft skill tips to succeed in an IB interview?

Interviewing for a year 1 analyst role at a global. Some people have told me I prepare too much where my answers sound scripted. I think it’s just because I’m nervous. My friends who’ve succeeded have told me to go on the offensive side of the interview, show that you’re knowledgeable and can do the job. What are some tips for improving soft skills?

limit dumb generic questions (favorite deal, why choosing group, day-to-day responsibilities). I get asked one of those 3 on almost every networking call and I want to blow my brains out. Do research and ask meaningful, personal questions.

Often times if you're writing out your behaviorals and memorizing them, it comes off as monotonous and scripted. You should try to speak like you're having a conversation. If you are memorizing your answers in paragraphs, try breaking them into bullet points that encompass the major key points you're trying to hit. Otherwise, you will end up sounding like a robot and if you trip/forget where you were then you'll have a hard time regaining your train of thought. At that point, it will be very obvious that you did just memorize a script. Be confident in your answers and speak with inflection.
