Received a pretty good performance review with no obvious “fails” but still got bottom bucket bonus?? My ego is bruised and I thought based on my culture/values ratings on top of positive feedback I would be at middle (I received strong / strong). Am I missing something here / is my job at risk???

I am so sorry bro. I know how painful it is when you get only positive feedback and then they lowball you on bonus. Nothing is worse.
You’re not missing anything. Your team is not interested in rewarding you for your contribution. You can ask them for an explanation, and I’m sure they’ll say some nice words, but I don’t think it changes the facts.

Happens frequently from what I’ve seen tbh. A lot of people even in banking hate the “tough conversations” and would rather just blow smoke up your ass. Then they hope you might not be well connected enough to know what others’ got so you might stay while getting paid nothing. It’s a win-win for them since there’s minimal to no chance of analysts actually confronting them about it.
And to realistically say - What can an AN1 really do to change things - I would say very little. It really sucks some banks treat juniors like this.
Exactly. My group head is a name most on the street would recognize — and he won’t even give it straight to a 23 year old whose livelihood is on the line. It’s a red flag among many red flags at my bank / group.
