Solvency Opinion

Does anyone have an idea of what the general market rate is for a solvency opinion (for a lower middle market co. doing a recap)? Thanks for any thoughts.

Depends on a few things:

  1. Brand of firm completing the project - you will pay a premium for more prestigious firms especially if you don't regularly do business with them

  2. Size of the dividend - probably more importantly the leverage of the company following the dividend and its repayment period

  3. Size of the company - the higher the EBITDA, the higher the fee you can probably expect

All that said, I would guess anywhere from $75k to $115k based on my recent experience. Some of the larger firms will try to get a larger fee, but if you go with a reasonably respectable firm, I would bet that you could pay what I mentioned.
