Sophomore Internship Decision

For my sophomore summer I have two internship opportunities. The first is a summer analyst position at a boutique, no-name Investment Bank. The second is a financial analyst position at a lower middle market, better known bank. I have heard very poor reviews about the boutique bank, but I am wondering if having a non investment banking position my sophomore summer will hurt my chances for junior summer recruiting. So ultimately, I would like to take the financial analyst position, but am wondering if this choice would hurt me for next summer.

Do you go a target? The reason I ask is that there are English majors at H who get MBB offers so if that's the case, do what makes you happy because relevant experience means nothing.

Agree with the above, if you are at a target I don't think it makes much of a difference, I would probably go with the boutique IB. If you are at a non-target it becomes trickier because then you have to decide between the value of an IB internship vs. a better brand name finance internship
