Sophomore Internship - Return offer

Just wanted to share with my fellow monkeys that I was just given a return offer for my junior summer! I've been at a boutique bank for the past 10 weeks. It took a lot of phone calls and emails just to land this and it was well worth it.

If any sophomores need advice feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to help

congrats. any specific reason you decided to stay with your current firm rather than try to land a BB/MM IBD gig next summer? just curious.

I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

How consistent is the dealflow at the boutique? How many employees?

Curious because I am working at a boutique right now with 2 MDs, a VP, and an analyst and there was never any chance for me to get a return offer (not that I wanted one either).

@Neighbor: Thanks, but I should clarify that I was only "offered" to return, and that I expressed my appreciation but that I am going to keep my options open. I certainly wish to pursue a BB internship, and my colleagues have all expressed that they will help me in any way they can.

@Midatlantica: We have quite a few deals in various stages. It's a small team 1 MD and 3 Directors. I enjoyed my time here and did want the return offer, even though I do not see myself returning (more of a notch in my belt).

@MrDiCaprio: No freshman internship. I did work that summer, but nothing finance related. I had a list of Tri State area firms from brand names to no names. Pretty much went down the line reaching out to them about internship opps. Most were stuck in their ways about "Juniors Only". Finally found a boutique that really needed the help and I expressed my interest in helping in any way I could.

Did you sit in on meetings with clients? Did you get any modeling experience?

I am curious because I know how varied the boutique internship experience can be. I am essentially in the same spot as you...finishing up my boutique stint and aiming for BB.
