Sourcing a deal as an Analyst
I'm an investment banking analyst in a tier 2/3 city (Think San Diego, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Denver) at a boutique. General question, if I source a deal completely on my own from a previous relationship, would it be wrong to ask for a percentage of the fee generated? I know banks usually charge around a 3% fee, so about $2mm would be the fee and MD's generally get 40% of the fees they create. So how could I maximize my cut without pissing off anyone?
