S&T->one semester of PhD->IB?

Hey everyone, I am hoping for a bit of advice here. So I studied Math and Computer Science at a semi-target, 3.9 GPA...then I went to a BB IB in NYC and traded macro rates products for 2 years. Then I decided I wanted to learn about "deep learning" and AI and machine learning, so I started a PhD. last fall. After one semester I knew it wasn't for me.

So I'm really interested in learning about companies and generally getting into a more qualitative investment role than a number crunching quant. Any advice on if I might be able to lateral into an IB Associate position? I already did the trading analyst grind. Not feeling an MBA.

Just network like crazy and use the internet? Or would anyone recommend specific courses like IBI bootcamps or something?

FWIW. The quant stuff is something I've always been good at...but I don't really enjoy it. I'd rather work with people and deals and that sort of thing.

Thanks
