Stock Exchange Internship

Background: I'm studying economics in Italy and after this summer I'll move to london for my master's. This year I have to find an internship for the summer here in Italy.

So, I'm considering applying for an internship at Borsa Italiana SPA, which is Italy's main stock exchange. It was privatized and acquired by the London Stock Exchange in 2007.

The internships offered are for "Project Management" and "Product Development", whatever that means.

I'm currently waiting to hear back from a couple of firms, but if I weren't able to secure an offer someplace else do you think these internships would be competitive in any way to the eyes of BBs, or should I look somewhere else?

I ask because in 6 months I'll be in london hunting for a SA stint for the year 2012, and my main criteria in choosing my italian internship is what could help me land a IB role next year.

If you don't get anything else, yeah, it can't hurt. Besides, when you're there, just use it as a platform to network out of......

Well, networking will be feasible just to a certain extent, since Ithe internship is in Milan, and I'm going to London afterwards.

Also, once you are working / interning, you get taken much more seriously than if you were not. So, by the very fact that you are working, it gets easier to line up the next thing.

Just enjoy the last summer of your life....the ambition is admirable but seriously, whatever time you have between school and work should be spent enjoying what you can of that tiny window of freedom
