Summer 2012 Options - Have Spring BB Internship

Basically, my schedule is pretty messed up atm. I have an IBD (M&A / TMT) internship with a leading BB running from February to May 2012, but nothing else lined up at the moment. I am graduating this summer from a semi-target UK university with a bad grade due to poor performance in my 2nd year (2:2, around 3-3.3 GPA).

I'm banking heavily on converting my current internship to an FT offer starting September 2012, but should I maybe think about applying for SA positions for summer 2012, using my current offer as 'leverage'? What other options are available to me, I can't really think of much else right now and really am putting everything on converting my spring BB internship to a FT offer.....

Thanks!

Well, if it is JP Morgan I would not count too much on the conversion. I had 2 friends that had internship on JP Morgan M&A TMT desk and they did not receive offers for full time even if, later, they were able to secure a FT position in other BB. Since the application period for summer internship 2012 is before your internship, I think it is quite difficult to include it on your CV. Anyway, they may think that if you get an offer from your spring internship you are not going to spend the summer working with them. I think your best option is to apply for off-cycle starting in autumn cause you can include the internship in the spring on your CV cause it will be already started.

I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.
