Summer 2021 Virtual Summer Analyst?

Hey everyone,

Have any banks made definitive statements about whether Summer 2021 summer analysts will be online or not? Have you heard anything unofficial about what next summer may look like?

I have an internship within the private bank at a BB and haven't heard anything at all about what next summer will look like. I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

Yeah it's very vaccine-dependent at this point. Spoke with a trader at a BB at she said the firm is going to do a 'pilot' in early 2021 (Feb) to bring people back slowly in batches. Totally voluntary for employees, but the results of that should be a good indicator of sentiments going forward. Goldman Sachs just released an intresting article estimating that ~50% of Americans will be vaccinated by April-May.

Honestly at this point, with all that info, I'd say the best-case scenario is that interns get a hybrid (Couple weeks in-person with rest remote, or maybe like X days of the week virtual). Worst case, we're all virtual. I'd say expect remote, but hope for the best!

That's super helpful! Thank you for sharing the article; that's really interesting. I wonder if banks will mandate people get the vaccine before coming into the office.

Most likely will be WFH for the bigger banks. Its not worth the risk/PR trouble
