Summer Analyst Headcount???

Hello,

Recently contacted several recruters/ COO at the banks. They are interested to interview me and ask for my CV, but again because I applied a bit late they told me they were finanlizing the summer internship and there is no headcount left at the time I sent over my CV. If anything changes, they promise to let me know. While at the same time, I realize some of my friends who have multiple offers are rejecting offers...

Curious anyone has any idea about the "headcount"? Is it that crucial or it's just another glamorous execuse to reject you? If the headcount is important, is it advisable to tell the recruiter that my friends are rejecting their offers so that maybe I can be considered? Thanks so much!

PS. understand I may look a bit desperate and needy, but I do need a SA to fill up my summer...

humble_dudeSpeaking from my experience with SA recruiting: normally they will put you on a waitlist and if they need more they will pick from the top of the list.

I don't think it is an excuse, if they don't want you they will just say no directly.

agreed, waitlist is waitlist but you don't want to be their second choice or be held hostage, so keep looking

yeah unfortunately they do have a fixed number of headcount and there is little you can do about this. however if they are being this receptive at such a late stage you might still have a chance, who knows. keep grinding
