Summer Associate Internship in M&A

Hey guys,

I am a first year MBA student and have over 10 applications pending that I submitted in October for M&A positions in London and in the US. Any idea when banks start sending out 1st round invitations or rejections?

I have applied to most major ones and some smaller ones.

Thanks,
Sidney

That's a pretty open question...

First off, was it through OCR? If so, you should know exactly when first rounds will take place, as well as when the list will be made available. Also, please bear in mind that each firm has a different timeframe when it comes to interviews, superdays, etc.

However, given how early it is in the game, I'm speculating you merely applied online (and not through OCR)? If thats the case, I'm afraid you may not have played your cards properly. As a first year MBA, you should be spending 90% of your time networking at this point in time (setting up informational interviews, etc.). As far as I can remember, the actual resume submission deadlines don't start popping up until around Dec/Jan. Then again, my memory may not be serving me well, as it has been some time since I was in your shoes.

I (as well as others on this forum, I'm sure) are more than happy to try and help out. However, you will need to give us more to work with.

Just an FYI - I have my MBA, went through the Summer Associate recruiting cycle while I was a first year MBA, and am now an Associate at a BB in NY, so I've been in your shoes.
