Summer Associate Networking

I want to apply for Summer Associate Position. I am into networking. Fortunately, I got a chance to speak with a GS IB Associate for 45 minutes. He says target school is a constraint. Another meeting lined up with another GS IB Analyst and she is my school Alum.

My questions:

1.Should I be persistent in efforts with this GS IB Associate? If yes, then how? I want to try every possible way without pissing him off.

2.Will the recommendation of GS IB Analyst (my school alum) works for Summer Associate position?

All insights welcome!

Thank you in advance..

  1. Don't know what program you're in but I would suggest taking him out for coffee or drinks to "pick his brain"...He sounds pretty honest but if you take him out to ask for advice, most people will meet and if he likes you, they'll make an exception if they don't regularly recruit at your school.

  2. YES, win the favor of the analyst and you're in for an interview....see #1....in IB, the analysts will either kill you or make you golden. Don't let the title fool you. If she's highly regarded in the team and puts in a good word, you're good. She may "only" be an analyst but respect how much she can push your resume or, alternatively, train-wreck your chances there.

Just my 2 cents.
