Summer HSBC vs Torch Partners
Hello everyone,
I have received 2 offers for a Summer Internship in Investment Banking in London. Which do you think is the best option?
I have the impression that HSBC is better known overall but Torch Partners seems to have good exits and they specialise in IB so it may also be a good option ...
I would take HSBC over Torch. Try to get into their Leveraged Finance (LAF) or DCM groups as they are by far the best at the bank. Depends on what you want to do after your IB stint, but HSBC will open up a much more broad range of exits due to its name. It would also be easier to lateral to another bank from HSBC
I'd actually like to join a BB/EB then exit into an MM Private Equity
HSBC. Torch do tiny deals. 60 man office. HSBC larger, big balance sheet, good lateral opportunities. check linkedin.
Would consider torch's return rates. Heard HSBC was 40% last year
HSBC I would say
In the short term it’s a tough one, pros and cons of both, but think HSBC would be a better overall experience. Not sure about offer conversions though
In the medium term HSBC is better. If you’re looking at PE roles HSBC has a good reputation and if it’s banking you want to do, the top 5 will hire from HSBC but not from Torch
ok thanks for your insight!
who are the top 5
GS, MS, JPM, Citi, BofA
