Summer Internship Decision Advice

I am currently a sophomore student at a target-school seeking BB IBD offers next summer. Right now, I have two internship offers for this sophomore summer. First one is at a reputable boutique MM IB firm and the second one is at the Corporate Banking Division of a large multinational bank. Which one should I choose?

I am leaning towards the Ibanking offer but I could be wrong. Can someone else give me some advice?

All feedback are appreciated.

I'd definitely take IB. As a sophomore, direct IB experience will be a great characteristic from a recruiting standpoint come next year. It will also help you tailor your pitch in a way juniors without IB internships can't (i.e. you can say I saw first hand what IB was, enjoyed it, etc.) This will show you know what you are getting into. Just be sure to be prepared to discuss your role and experience well during recruiting.

My sentiments echo the posters above.

However, it might be worthwhile to consider the Corporate banking position, if the team you are working specifically with are working together with the IBD team frequently - Coverage etc. Then the position might give you a lot of opportunity to network with the I Bankers especially if the bank is a BB.

Thanks for the input. I decided to take the investment banking internship offer.

That was definitely the best decision. Especially since it was a reputable MM firm.
