Summer Internship Dilemma?

Hey all, so I kind of have a dilemma regarding this upcoming summer with internships and whatnot. So just a background, I'm a sophomore currently interning off-cycle and did another off-cycle last semester. I have the option to continue working where I am now (which is across the country from my home). However, my parents don't really want this as they want me to help take care of my grandparents over the summer. Would it be a big deal to a recruiter if I don't intern this summer? Not sure what I should do at this point.

Recruiters deal with these things all the time. Be VERY respectful to the recruiter and be sincere in telling him/her that you just need to stay closer to home for personal reasons. If they take offense from that and can't understand your personal issue, I imagine it wouldn't be a place you want to intern for the long term anyways.
