Summer Internship Just Ended..What know?

I started an extended internship in May which ended last week - worked in accounting for a large Healthcare company. BTW, I am a 19 year old rising sophomore. My ultimate goal is to land a IB internship, however considering that many are on a hiring freeze, what can you guys recommend for me from this point forward? I go to school full-time in the afternoon/evenings - would looking into any Finance jobs/internships be valuable for the long-term?

not certain what your major is or what school you go to. but if you're at a target like Wharton, and want to set yourself apart, having a lot of related work experience would be helpful.

that actually goes for any school. Although, recruiting prospects are almost nonexistent with banks, you won't be pursuing the junior internship til the end of next year. Things may change for the better in 2010.

I would try pursuing some more finance internships this year and really pushing for banking/front office experience wherever you can get it, boutiques, middle markets and bulge brackets.

If you can get into back office at one of the BB's, it might provide a good networking opportunity.

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.
