Great post. Thanks for taking the time to write that out. You mind if I ask what school? I'm not too sure what you mean when you say regional target (like Berkeley or Duke I'm thinking?)
great man gl, my friend at GS told me that next year GS is planning on reducing the intern/FT class by almost half so i am giving up this pointless race :D better luck to all of you (you all have a lot more will power than myself)!
I got to a non-target, finance and Computer science dual major sophopmore with a 3.6. and honestly at my non-target 4-5 BB recruited but next year we are fucked, big time.... I heard no BB's next year for my school.
You are right man this shit is getting competitive to the point where you have to be a 4.0 at my non-target or you get the shaft now (for BB of course)
Keep your head up. You don't have to have a 4.0, 2400 SAT to get interviews. You do need 3.5+ GPA (which you do have), relevant experience, and you definitely need to network.
Yea man, I agree man (I just feel like the intern/hiring freezes will just get worse with a double dip coming on its way and everything :D) but I think I may stick with my startup and move out to SF/Bay area (it is as risky as Wall street in my opinion but the payout can be a lot higher or I could fail :O ). Idk man the other thing I hate about IBD is that its structured, if I am a rockstar I still have to wait till I finish my 2 years before I can move on. With a startup its all about how good the idea is and how hard I am willing to make it grow, if you are a great CEO, visionary, marketer, manager, speaker and your 19-20 people may ridicule you but you can still succeed young and I dont want to wait till I am 32 to hit the respect (MD phase) when I can call my own shots now, again sure it is a lot more risky but I dont really want to think that far in the future anyways. I mean we all are dieing this year anyways so why not just live it to the max :D (haha jk.... but idk lol)
just wondering what schools are considered target vs semi target. obviously ivies would be target, but are top universities in the midwest (uofc, northwestern, notredame) considered target?
