What's the latest with SWFs these days - especially those with NY offices (Mubadala, Temasek, GIC etc). How is comp/lifestyle compared to MM/UMM funds? Understand that a lot of these roles are co-invest/asset allocation etc.

Cash comp is matched to IB and MM/UMM PE.
WLB is 40-60 hours pw.
Significant perks and tax advantages if you move to a jurisdiction like Abu Dhabi (although this obviously comes with lifestyle disadvantages).
Key downsides are bureaucracy, some places will have nepotism and favouritism / glass ceilings based on nationality, and, most importantly, no carry.
But 40-60 hrs thooo
can vouch for the hours being better, comp isn't that much lower and it's still interesting stuff, but most of the time you actually have to move to the middle east lol
Hours will still depend on which group. Infra groups can be in line with traditional IB/PE hours at some places.
I've heard getting hired at Temasek entails presenting a stock pitch to the big wigs in the Singapore office. Think i got a first round phone screen with em back in the day and looked into the process and just got super overwhelmed/intimidated.
Figures with great pay & unreal hours it's hard as hell to get the job.
