Switching from Actuary to Investment Banking

Hello,

I've been working as an Actuary since late 2016, working my way through the actuarial exams. I am almost finished (3 left out of 15), however I have had a change of heart regarding the career progression, as I foresee a ceiling to my earning potential as an Actuary.

When I first applied for jobs, i considered IB, however was originally put off by the lack of social life. In truth, this doesn't bother me too much anymore as I don't particularly mind spending longer in the office.

I'm curious on people's thoughts about: 1. Whether the switch is worth it 2. How one would go about the switch if so 3. What level one would be able to join IB at (I'm currently assuming you would have to start from the beginning.

Some information is included below regarding my current working life, pay, and what I believe the progression to be: * 2.5 years working as an actuary * All in pay (inc bonus) ~ 50k * 9am - 6pm on average. During a busy period this may be 10pm, but so far those are many 1 in 10 days * Spend most of my time modelling cashflow projections, mapping pension liabilities, working with excel and creating models. * Once I qualify (hopefully this year) ~60-65k inc bonus * After about 10 years at the current company, people are on about 100k inc bonus * Currently aged 25 (if that matters in any way)

Please let me know your thoughts/feelings on the matter.

Thanks
