Yes I find people very fake in this industry (at least in my office they are). Nice to your face but will talk shit when you're not around. To be fair most people are too pussy to confront you if they have a gripe with you (also outside of IB) so I guess the bottom line is they're human (maybe a bit more gossipy than most though).

 

Seems like a common personality tinge in banking. Even in college, the undergrads interested in banking were like that for some reason. Some groups purposely hire people who aren’t like that and mine is fine. I’ve seen other groups at my bank where I spoke with these people for 2 min and they were emitting inferiority complex.
