How do i-banks handle SA and FT hiring of December graduates? I assume SA would not be affected; but for FT do I-banks allow these December grads to start in the spring or do the grads have to wait until summer to begin?

I was one of em.. You can request to start earlier if you want / if there is a need. If you really want to you can start early. There's positives and negatives to both. Starting early will put you ahead of your analyst class but you're most likely going to get BS work.
Generally not worth starting early. Once you get the FT offer, enjoy your time off. Go nuts, travel, whatever.
