The Intern Starter Pack

With all the interns starting soon, I thought I’d share a list of some of the most helpful resources I’ve used as a banker. Listing some free and paid tools (hopefully your firm pays for them haha). Would’ve been helpful for me to reference when I started out in banking.

  • Company Research: Alphasense - incredibly useful with very well implemented AI functionality
  • Linking to Filings: BamSEC - just works better
  • Pulling Icons: the Noun Project - easy to find with good search function. (Hack is to download as SVG then ungroup :)
  • SOFR: Pensford
  • Pulling Logos: Logo Analyst is a good free tool if your firm doesn’t pay for anything (my firm unfortunately)
  • Anything VC Related: PitchBook - a lot of people have it free through school
  • Random Productivity Tools: Microsoft PowerToys has a bunch of little helpful tools for grabbing colors, finding mouse, etc which are helpful
  • Screenshots: hopefully you already know how to use Windows+Shift+S - if not, you might be in the wrong profession

This list is non-comprehensive - please add to it.

i'd add that if you have factset or macabacus, it's probably worth taking a day or two in training and just figuring out what all the functions are bc they'll save you a ton of time in pptx and excel
