Thoughts on Citi Corporate Banking (CB) vs Citi Investment Banking (IB)?
Originally, I was recruiting for IB but I kind of fell into CB and have an offer for Citi. I was wondering how do these two divisions compare? I wonder why nobody talks about CB if in general they get the same base pay as IB but they also work fewer hours. Isn't this a better deal?
Also, is it worth taking up the offer and just lateraling to IB after my first year if I don't like CB? How many hours exactly do corporate bankers work and is the work life balance actually good enough to justify being paid less? I heard that in Citi, corporate bankers still work long hours since CB is housed with IB. I don't think I'm going to get any other offers, especially for IB, so please tell me what I should do if I accept my CB offer but what I truly want is IB or possibly even PE later on in my career. Thank you!

>>Citi at all
I'm good
Wait as in anything is better than Citi? Lol
Citi is a great place to make a career, it's just that the culture there... is uh... yeah
Oh really, I thought they would have a good culture, as everyone here seems so willing to help and down-to-earth. What exactly is bad about the culture?
Citi CB is way underrated, see the other thread regarding CB salaries. Same pay, same training, less hours, and you can often move to IB as A3.
Agreed
Great question would love to see the answers.
