Tips and Tricks for just-employed interns / analysts when speaking to (senior) colleagues outside of "strictly" work environments

Figured it would be useful asking this:

I for sure know that I can excel to a decent degree with work as an M&A Intern. I have done it before I can do it again. But as much as the work life balance is terrible, we do get glimpses of light and "free" time, albeit with colleagues with work or getting coffees with people etc. When you're on these 'events' and with the intention of learning / furthering our own careers, are there any things you guys have done which have left a good impression?

Bit abstract, and broad - but I'll be on offsites working with people, I'll be on coffees and beers after work. Figured it would be good to ask on tips and tricks or etiquette that anyone would be willing to share.
