TMT Strategy -> IB?

Hey fellow monkes,

I'm a Strategy Analyst at a boutique focused on MM TMT M&A/Consulting. I want to jump to investment banking over the next year.

To prep, Im trying to get more transaction experiences on my resume and more exposure to the models.

I'm aiming for LMM/MM TMT groups and was hoping to ask if anyone has had experience making the jump.

For those who made the jump to IB from MC, what were key experiences/skills that helped you make the jump?

How important is direct transaction experience to breaking into banking?

What networking strategies were most effective in helping you make the transition?

Are there specific LMM/MM TMT groups known for hiring candidates with consulting backgrounds?

When should I time to make the jump? The February after bonuses drop? Also considering making the jump after a promotion to Sr. Analyst, which could happen over the next 6-8 months.

Cross posting from job search advice forum since didn't get any comments.

Any guidance is helpful, thank you monkes
