Too late to switch from LevFin to M&A?
Seeking wisdom from the more senior posters - I'm currently finishing up my first year in LevFin at a BB and I'm considering switching into M&A. Two questions:
1) I just turned 26, have a year of experience and I've done a masters degree. I feel like it would be difficult in starting again as a 1st year with a bunch of 22 year olds. Is this a valid concern? Am I too old to even be considering switching?
2) Is it worth it? People in M&A are generally a lot more optimistic in regards to their career outlooks than most people I talk to in LevFin and I remember from my internship (which was M&A at the same bank) that the level of people in M&A tends to be of slightly higher quality. However, is the difference of material significance?
Any input would be much appreciated!
