Too old to intern at 27 year old?

Hey all,Would you say it's too old to start interning at IBD when you're 27?I started my career a little late than my peers as I spent ~2 years in the military. And I have FX derivatives sales & Start-up Corp dev role under my belt.I am currently a 1st year analyst at a PE focused consulting firm (mostly known as DD house) in Korea, looking to pivot into the IBD side for the long term career preferrably in Singapore or HK.While it is pretty normal for 27 y.o to intern and become a 1st year analyst in Korea, I am not sure how my age will be perceived in above countries.Any perspective on this?

Met a guy with two kids in my intern class so I think you should be good

A lot of Singaporeans went to military as well, 25ish as 1st year analyst in SG is pretty normal. So you're not far off.

HK cohort is indeed younger, pretty much in line with US. 21/22ish as 1st year.

age is just a number

i also think it’s really hard to get any top level role in finance, consulting or law while after uni….because life is not given to everyone vs kids that go to top universities, have pvt school education and probably raised in functioning family etc. All of these have to be aligned to land a top role on wallstreet and ofc there’s some odd balls here n there but still very low

that’s just my view and from what i’ve seen

Switched careers from medicine to IB.

I’m 31. Currently an intern at a no-name boutique. Zero experience. For me, its just seeing ppl my age be just leagues ahead of me gets to me sometimes but i try to take it day by day.

I was 33 years old when I did my internship. Your age will not be an issue as long as you have the right attitude. In my opinion, the most important thing for you is to be humble and recognize that individuals younger than you know more than you do. This is especially important when being led by younger people, as they are more likely to find it awkward to lead you than vice versa. However, given your military background, this will not be a problem for you because you understand the importance of rank, responsibility, and expertise over age. Finally, it's not all downsides, your age can also work in your favor early in your career by making it easier to connect with older colleagues, managers, or clients.
