Took the Associate Promote…

I am in IB at a boutique bank, getting grinded real bad. Considering lateraling to a bigger, more established place with better culture/comp/wlb/etc…

I currently am a first year Associate and would potentially be moving into the same position at the this new firm. Does this mean I’ll never get to work on the buy side ? Will I be labeling myself as a life long banker ? How tough will it be to eventually pivot if I want to? Curious for everyone’s thoughts, thanks…
