Top Dallas Investment Banks
Good Evening,
I'm currently in my senior year and looking for advice on the best small to midsize investment banks in Dallas/Fort Worth. I missed out on bigger banks and would love to get my foot in the door whatever way possible.
Thanks!

Dallas IBD Offices (Originally Posted: 08/28/2017)
Hi -
I'm interested to see what the IB scene in Dallas looks like. Who are the big players in the city? Am also curious what kind of presence the BBs have in the city.
Bump
I've heard Salomon Brothers has a strong Equities department there.
(sorry, couldn't resist.)
Houlihan and Stephens have decent-sized offices. But besides that, the rest of Dallas is lower MM or energy-focused boutique shops.
Overall, if you're looking to get into IBD, particularly at a BB, Houston is much better. Dallas has more HF and PE shops, but on the transaction side, Houston clowns Dallas.
Some BBs had middle market teams in the mid-2000s, but they are deceased.
Can't provide much color other than that I know that GS holds some Real Estate people out there.
Dallas MM IBD Info (Originally Posted: 10/18/2010)
I am trying to find a list of MM IBD in Dallas, but can't seem to find one on here anywhere. Also, does anyone have any info regarding salaries/bonus in this area? Any info is appreciated.
houlihan lokey and Stephens are the biggest players in the MM in Dallas. Other firms in this space are Southwest Securities and Cogent Partners
Raymond James, McColl Partners, Stephens Inc., Challenger Capital, Houlihan Lokey. Some other places I am forgetting right now. Dallas isn't really a hot spot for banking. Have you considered Houston?
I have considered Houston and would go down there if the opportunity was right. Are you out of Houston? Any idea on salary/bonus info at these MM's?
Also MHT Partners but haven't heard great things.
Second everything Shaniqua said. Dallas is much bigger in the asset management scene, much less so in banking (mm, bb or otherwise). MHT used to office right down the hall from me but then moved across the street. Know they picked up an ex-Bear or two. Other than the above, JPM has a mid-corp group, Jefferies has a small energy team I believe.
hell might as well list the bulges along with these, as there just aren't that many. BAML has a small generalist office, JPM has a single guy doing MLP's, the aforementioned mid-corp group, and a retail IB team.
At the well known places in Dallas i.e. Houlihan, JP Morgan it will be 70+10 sign on, plus bonus similar to NY (maybe slightly less). But cost of living makes up for it. Honestly not sure what places like Stephens or MHT Partners would pay. I'm sure at least 60k base though.
