From a strength standpoint, everyone always mentions LevFin, Sponsors, REGL(L), Industrials, and M&A as having the best dealflow at DB. From what I've heard, Sponsors is a great group to be in for both a great culture and lifestyle as well as dealflow/exit opps. Also, they are on the 46th floor, which is the office's executive floor, so you may have the good fortune of crossing paths with very senior North American DB execs should you go with Sponsors.
DB's Tech is based in Boston. The team in NYC is small (very small).
LevFin and Sponsor are strong within DB.
DB TMT's headquarter is in SF and most tech deals happen there. NYC TMT is mainly telecom (lot of lev fin activities). I believe Boston is a satellite office with small number of bankers.
Based on DB's current state, i'd say the top group at DB is the legal department.
I'm pretty sure their in-house lawyers are getting paid some serious bonuses. Probably also working 90-100 hours across all levels.
