Transferring Schools: Worth It?
I'm currently an undergrad at Florida Gulf Coast University majoring in business and economics. I have had internships at a large tech company in Silicon Valley doing BD, a market analyst intern position, and a consultant internship. I'm going to be a junior soon and considering transferring to the University of Miami. My parents, while well off, believe that FGCU is a fine education for the price, especially considering I want to do grad school. Currently, I have no loans taken out and won't have any debt should I stay at FGCU. However, for grad school admissions and getting a job in IB or consulting in NY- would the name of Miami help me at all even though I already have had pretty great internships? Is it worth going into a bit of debt for me to graduate there? Again, wanting to get a job at a top comp or firm in NYC and plan on grad school. Thoughts/ opinions?
Not saying that University of Miami is a bonafide target school, but I do think it has some placement, and relative to your current school, it would be worth the transfer provided that it does not cause significant financial strain.
Not exactly related to this question, but is UVA a respected school on Wall Street?
UVA sends a lot of kids on the street. They are def respected
Neither sends many people to banks, much less to NY banking/consulting. Not worth transferring in this case.
