Transferring to different division after you get return offer

Is it possible to ask HR to get you an interview for another division with the same bank that you interned at and got a return? I got a return offer at a bank, and would like to interview for investment banking. Unfortunately, I did not network with any IB people during my internship because I didn't want to risk not getting a return.

My questions is, if I ask HR is there are any IB spots open, do you think HR will notify my manager, and that will affect my return offer?

No. If you interned at a bank (unless it was small /regional) it was likely through a program (IB analyst program / FADP / FLDP / Tech / Risk / etc). Your return offer will be contingent on the group you interned for IF the offer is extended at the end of your program. There is usually a formal chance for you to try to interview with, say, the IBD but oftentimes they include a caveat that you must accept your Risk FT offer on X date and IBD interviews (internal) won't be complete until X+5 days and so you risk losing the FT offer and not getting the IBD offer.
