Transition from LP role into M&A advisory IB?

1) I know it’s not common, but has this been done before? Will I be able to get a foot in the door?

2) How realistic is it to do IB for just a year before hopping to PE?

3) I have between 2-5 years LP experience. What level should I be thinking about?

4) Best to apply direct, via recruiter, or spend some time networking and try get in that way?

Many (even some in megafund pe) would love to join a good LP especially as the economy looks increasingly uncertain. Don't switch just because you think the grass is greener on the direct investment side. I can assure you it is not!
