Travel in M&A
I realize there can be significant travel for senior bankers of coverage groups, but I haven't seen much discussion around the travel frequency for M&A bankers

It depends on the actual position, but generally at a senior level it's a lot. I'm not a banker but in PE and I know I travel a ton and most of the bankers I know either as friends or through business do as well. It's typically not something known and regular (I know some corporate guys where they know that, for example, the third week of the month they go to the Denver office from Tuesday through Thursday, or they know that six weeks from now they're going to New Delhi). It's very dependent on where you're pitching something or where a live deal is going on and what needs to be done for it and is very often last minute.
A distant relative is a senior pub fin banker at a BB, he said he's averaging about 5-8 days a month on the road. MD at the boutique I interned at a few years ago was on the road maybe 5 days a month.
