Even if you have to pay for it yourself, getting global entry is the BEST $100 you will ever spend. I cannot comprehend how can people who travel more than once or twice a year can do without it.
Yeah, seriously. It's $100. Just get it and worry about trying to get reimbursed later.
Don't just go for pre-check, get Global Entry - 5 years of pre-check plus skipping the passport lines. Totally worth the $100.
In other news, if you have certain travel credit cards some of them will reimburse.
Also, seriously $100 is like 3 drinks in NYC.
I assumed TSA pre got you Global Entry automatically, but if not, get Global Entry. I have NEXUS which gets me TSA pre and Global Entry.
Global entry gets you Pre-check, but not the other way around.
chase reserve or amex plat should give you the credit. agree with everyone it is worth every penny
TSA precheck is an absolute must. It's easy to get also. I need to get on global entry.
I've got Pre-Check but not Global Entry. I am not currently in a major city so getting a TSA office with Global Entry certification has been a bit of a pain. That being said, Pre has been the best thing I ever did for myself in the past year and a half. Airports I hit tend to be very very busy, and the ~2 hours I saved not having to deal with security over Thanksgiving was glorious.
The MM that I was at paid for TSA pre-check, as does the firm where I'm doing corp dev at now. You just have to ask. As others have said, get Global Entry. I traveled internationally a few weeks ago and easily saved an hour by skipping the customs line.
Great responses - thanks, all!
