UBS vs HSBC for investment banking in London
I have been offered a summer analyst position by both HSBC and UBS in London. Any advice on which I should choose?
Things that matter to me:
- Responsibility analysts take - the more the better
- Learning/growth opportunities
- Culture at the banks
- Return offer rate
- Work-life balance (I know it's IB so probably little to none but still)
HSBC IS TRASH DONT GO
Why though?
Just curious: on what date did you complete the Job Sim, when did you hear back regarding the AC, and when did you have the AC?
I did the JobSim shortly after applications opened, received an email a few days days later that I passed the benchmark and they will review my application in detail and contact me if I’ll proceed to the next round. Then they invited me to the AC which was a bit less than a month after I did the JobSim. Then I heard back in a few days that I’m accepted.
UBS. How is this even a question?
Lol.
UBS. Not even a question.
How about for markets/s&t?
To be frank think UBS markets platform is quite a bit stronger than their IB
still clearly UBS. only slight nuance is if goal is to work in APAC, potentially then some desks at HSBC better. otherwise UBS definitely superior
Okay UBS gets shit on a lot in this forum and deservedly so since it seems like some of their teams are value-negatives. However, UBS is still clearly better than HSBC c'mon now.
