UK off-cycles periodicity

Hi everyone,

As a French student (non-target), 2021 will be a full gap-year during which we need to do 2 6-month internships. I'll do the first one in the coverage team of a French bank (think Société Générale, Natixis, Crédit Agricole) and I was wondering if it was possible (considering my profile and offers) to do a 6-month off-cycle internships in London in a good M&A boutique, from July 21 to December 21.

I know that there is a lot of differences between both French and UK systems regarding springs, summers, off cycles.. so I have literally no clue if I have any chance to get where I am aiming.

Considering the huge differences between UK and France internships periodicity, are there a lot of UK firms working in the IB field offering 6-months off-cycle internships beginning in July ?

If no, is it possible to get one by heavy networking or is it literally impossible ?

Thank you in advance for your precious answers, have a good day !

Thank a lot for you answer, much appreciated ! I am mostly targeting M&A shops considering my profile, could you tell me what do you mean by flexible ? Like if my profile please them they would offer me an internship even if they didn't plan to do so ?

Moreover, are there a lot of small M&A shops offering off-cycle spots from July to Dec or it really depends on the boutique/candidate profile ?

Thank a lot for your answer, it helps me a lot as I don't know anything about the UK off-cycle system !
