UK Spring Week for IB

Please forgive me If this is stupid I cannot seem to find a definitive answer. I’ve been researching internship CVs on this platform and r/financialcareers, and I’ve noticed that many candidates have impressive backgrounds—such as top university placements, stellar grades, and prior finance-related experience—even before starting their degrees.

By comparison, I’m currently on a gap year (which I spent traveling) and will be attending a semi-target UK university in September. I’m concerned that my profile might be less competitive, especially for spring week applications.

How much will this impact my chances, and if there’s anything I could do to strengthen my application?

I’d really appreciate any advice.
