Which bank is it? Sounds scary.
Sorry to hear it man... but I'm pretty certain that an unpaid FT gig is impossible (especially at a large firm/BB).
That seriously DOES sound scary. Was it UBS?
Thanks for replying! But why would unpaid FT be impossible in BB? What abt negotiated compensation package? And, so I presumed unpaid internship would be okay?
More to the point, why on earth would you go for this?
That is among of the most ridiculous questions I have ever heard
labor laws
What would you do then if the hiring market is rather weak now and would like to break into the industry?
OPs entire post is just horrifying
I'm sure if you ask politely enough, they will allow it.
If I were you, I would reach out to the group you worked with as an SA - try and reconnect with any analysts/associates and maybe even VPs/MDs who you got along well with and see if they might have any leads with regards to FT openings. Since you received the offer, and your team played a large part in you getting that offer extended, they are likely to sympathize with your situation.
You want to ask to work unpaid FT IBD at a BB? That's like asking the nearest prison if you can use the shower.
