Unvested 401k
Do folks usually have a new employer buy out the unvested portion of the existing employer’s 401k matching? Haven’t switch roles in my career and have a decent amount that remains unvested / along with a pension (yes my bank used to pay out a pension lol)
Have never heard of a 401k buyout... but if you feel you have negotiating power, worth a try, especially if there is no (or very low) bonus for them to front you. But not something that happens frequently. Pension is definitely not getting bought out
