Update E-mail to a Contact

Hi all,

Simple question here. Back in September, I sent out a resume and cover letter to pretty much every bank in the U.S. Few responded. However, I ended up having a pretty decent back-and-forth with one guy. He said that though they were not hiring analysts at the time, he would be sure to contact me and give me an interview when a position opened up. I thanked him, told him I'd be in touch, and went on my way. I ended up finding a FT position and begin in a few weeks.

With that being said, the guy works at a place I would LOVE to be. Pretty much the perfect place for me. We have not been in touch since early October, and I honestly forgot all about it until I was transferring all my contacts from my college email to my new email. I want to send him an email the reaffirm my interest in the firm and remind him that if any spot opens up, I would love to interview for it. But since it was nearly seven months ago since we spoke, he probably has no idea who I am. How should I approach this? Should I just say "My name is Joe Smith," or do I treat it as if we are the best of friends, or do I say "you probably don't remember me?"

I realize this is an absolutely ridiculous question, but I don't want to send an email and have this guy be like "who the fuck is this?" and delete the email. Thanks for any help.
