US equivalents of Canadian investment banks
I am trying to gauge the prestige of the large investment banks in Canada, specifically in Toronto. Can anyone provide a list of the big firms in Canada and an American equivalent? (ie. RBC = JPM). I have a better understanding of US banks. In Canada I'm having a hard time differentiating the big 6.
Would say:
T1A: Top RBC/TD (GS/MS/JPM)
T1B: BMO/CIBC (BofA, Citi, Barcap)
T2: Scotia (CS, UBS)
T3: National (DB)
If you you look at the BIg 5 Banks as a whole, then they are all pretty much the same, and you will get a very similar experience at all of them. I think the "prestiage" is more group-specific (i.e., BMO M&M, RBC M&A).
