Use family work experience for resume?
Hi, Im a math major, and have managed to network myself into a big financial advisory firm. Im trying to get an internship doing Risk Management. Since I switched majors this year, I dont have any related experience, except working for my dad, an accountant with his own firm that focuses mostly on corporate accounting. Is it really cheesy for me to use my Dad as my only prior experience?
thanks
Do it, just as long as your dad's name isn't in the company's name.
Is his business incorporated under a business name that's not the family name? If so, then just list that. If not, then I don't know
yeah, ha thats the problem, its his firm under his own name...so any opinions?
thanks
Definitely use it. Who cares if you didn't have to do anything to get the job. It's still work experience. Just tell a good story when asked about it.
